Blight Father: My Skaven Plague Priest

Here with a small post. I thought I would share a converted and painted miniature I completed a while ago. A few of you may notice that this chap is the first thing you see when you come to my site, and that is because I am very proud of him.

A few notes on Blight Father. I converted him from the Nurgle Chaos Lord plastic kit. The kit itself is one of my favorites, and it has a lot of detail. The instant I saw the kit, I knew I was going to convert it. I figured that I might as well use it for my Skaven, and thus Blight Father was born. The head and tail are taken from the Screaming Bell/Plague Furnace kit, from the Plague Priest. The hands are taken from the Gutter Runners kit.

There was also a small amount of Green Stuff involved in the creation of Blight Father. I had to fill the rather large hole in his belly where in organs were spilling out, sculpt some toes, sculpt a large neck for the head to sit atop, and give him small patches of fur.

For the painting, I had to try a new way of painting skin. I wanted to make him stand out. I started with a Tallarn Flesh basecoat, and worked it up to a Rotten Flesh highlight over many layers. For the open wounds, I simply added a hint of Blood Red to the mix.

Overall, I am extremely happy with how he turned out, and he is easily one of my favorite miniatures. I will be posting up some more photos of my Skaven army sometime in the near future.
