Underworlds Beastgrave Terrain

Warhammer Underworlds might be my most played game in recent years. I’ve played it casually with some friends and have attended a fair number of tournaments at my local GW. I wanted to add to the visual element of the game, and the Beastgrave terrain kit is a great way to do so, providing some giant skulls and a variety of thematic pieces.

I tried to match the hexagonal stones to those seen on most of the boards, and went with bold colors for the items on each. I find it hard to pick a favorite, as each is such a neat bit of terrain, but the giant purple crystal and fleshy maw are definitely towards the top.

Hi, I really like your blog. You are very productive and I like your color selection, small conversions and your style overall. May I ask what color you used on that small pond? Is it GW’s Tesseract Glow?
    Keep the good stuff coming!

Thanks! I actually painted this before the new Tesseract Glow, that would have made it much easier. I based the whole area with Moot Green and gave it a couple of layers adding in a bit of Flash Gitz Yellow, then a sharp highlight along the ripples and bubbles with some white. I also shaded the perimeter and recesses around the details with some Warpstone Glow.

Thanks for the quick response! Wow, even more impressive that you reached this effect without Tesseract Glow. You sound as if it could be a good idea using it, so I will give it a try. I also like how you left aside the tentacles and the clouds of smoke on the other hazard markers and I will do the same.

Wonderful work, looking forward to future issues of your blog!
