Jain Zar

The Storm of Silence, Phoenix Lord of the Howling Banshees.

It shouldn’t come to anyone as a surprise that I’m a huge fan of warrior women, from the heretic burning Sisters of Battle to my own female Space Marines, I jump at any chance to build and paint women in Warhammer. Jain Zar is one of, if not the, most well known women in all of 40k, and her new model is such a fantastic updating of her character, it perfectly captures her sense of agility and speed.

I opted for a colour scheme that stood out amongst her Howling Banshee kin, while keeping a few things similar so she still fit in, namely the bright red mane, and the colour of her weapons and cloth. The armour colour was inspired by some of her previous renditions in art, a light blue-grey and a stark white death mask, along with gold trimmed black armour on her arm, shoulder and legs.

Here’s a little preview of Jain Zar with some Howling Banshees, who I hope to post very soon!

I’m incredibly happy with how she turned out, even though it took me while to get around to painting her. She actually won me the 40k single miniature category at my local Warhammer stores annual painting contest. I’d love to field her and her Banshees in a fun Kill Team game, with Jain Zar as a sort of boss fight for other players. Here’s hoping GW releases more updated Eldar and specifically the other Aspect Warriors.

Outstanding paint scheme, fusing aesthetics from both old and new models. Can I ask for your recipe for the armour?
