Ork Beast Snagga Boyz
The first models I completed for a Ork commission are 10 Boyz of the Beast Snagga variety. The first thing you’ll probably notice is the style in which I painted them, which was very much inspired by Borderlands as per the clients request. I was a little hesitant at first, but owning Borderlands 2 and being quite familiar with the style in animation and games, I gave it a go.
I’m pretty happy with the result, especially since it gave me a good chance to practice non-metallic metals, something I’ve been wanting to do for a while now. The biggest change was not using much blending, instead using flat colours with stark highlights, and a lot of black lining for definition.
I really like the models themselves, and how distinct they are from the regular Ork Boyz. The squad has a large amount of scars, bionics and trophies, as well as a liberal use of animal hides and pelts to cover themselves with. These were actually my favourite parts to paint, and I took the time to make sure every Ork had a unique looking bit of hide/fur to help them stand out.
